BBC Click recently featured a patient named Peter whose neuroendocrine cancer has caused tumors throughout his body, including his liver. He took part in a focused ultrasound clinical trial in the UK that is exploring histotripsy – a non-thermal method of using focused ultrasound to mechanically destroy target tissue – to noninvasively destroy liver tumors. The cancer is now stable, so researchers will monitor Peter to see whether the histotripsy triggers an immune response.
The #HOPE4LIVER trial is being sponsored in the US and Europe by HistoSonics. Learn more about the trial >
