Focused ultrasound is a platform technology that has the potential to transform the treatment of a variety of medical conditions.

There is a large and growing number of clinical applications for focused ultrasound that are in various stages of research, development and commercialization.

UK Focused Ultrasound Development Status

There are currently 34 indications in various stages of development in the UK and more than 170 around the world. Worldwide, 32 have regulatory approval, and in the UK, 13 have achieved CE Marking. Download this graphic here.

Focused ultrasound is being investigated to treat more than 180 conditions in a wide range of specialties.

The majority of the indications are early-stage. Currently, no indications have universal insurance reimbursement.
