Our Mission

Focused ultrasound is a noninvasive therapeutic technology that could transform the treatment of many medical conditions, offering an alternative or complement to surgery and radiotherapy, as well as a new way to deliver drugs more safely and effectively.
Worldwide, there are more than 180 clinical indications or disorders in various stages of development and 35 indications have regulatory approval. Over a million patients have been treated with focused ultrasound. However, there is still a long way to go before the full potential of this technology is realised.
Our vision is to accelerate the development of new applications of focused ultrasound and its widespread adoption as a standard of care in the shortest time possible – because saving time means saving lives. Donate today!

Read MoreOur UK Goals
Despite a significant contribution by UK researchers in pioneering focused ultrasound technology, adoption in the UK has been slow and improvements in awareness, understanding and education are needed.
Inspired by the success of the Focused Ultrasound Foundation (launched in the US in 2006) the UK Focused Ultrasound Foundation was launched in 2022 to foster the further development and uptake of focused ultrasound in the UK.
The UK Foundation has three core goals:

Create a firm evidence base in the UK by funding groundbreaking focused ultrasound research

Facilitate the rapid adoption of focused ultrasound technology by fostering collaboration between relevant stakeholders including: researchers, regulators, manufacturers, policy-makers and charities

Raise awareness and understanding of focused ultrasound technology
The UK Focused Ultrasound Foundation is independent of but works closely with the US-based Focused Ultrasound Foundation, aligning goals and resources to achieve a common vision.
Accountability
The UK Focused Ultrasound Foundation takes responsibility to our donors seriously and we uphold the highest standards of fiscal responsibility and integrity. You can be sure your investment will be spent wisely and will make the most impact possible in our efforts to improve lives by accelerating the development and adoption of focused ultrasound.
